Organization Styles
Organization Styles allow you to change the grouping and order of line items in report specifications. Organization Styles can be applied to groups, line item sets and simple hubs, wherever they may appear in Reports and Charts. Named Organizational Styles can be used by a Chart as selected in the Data Organization section of Chart Variations.
Reorganizing
Members of a group, including all sub members, can be regrouped, sorted and re-titled based on a wide range of criteria.
Regrouping criteria
- Flatten into one group
- By first word in title
- By last word in title
- By FO Attribute
- By Hub
Sorting criteria
- By Title
- By FO Attribute
- By Hub
- By increasing or decreasing value for some period, span and scenario
Any number of grouping levels can be defined.
Example: You might want to group by one FO Attribute, and then within those groups to group by some other FO Attribute, and so on.
- Select the criteria to be used for the first level 1 and select the sorting method to be used.
- If you want to add groups within each of these groups, click and specify the grouping criteria for this level and how it is to be sorted, and so on.
Re-title FOs
Each FO can be re-titled by changing the titling. The new title is the concatenation of text, current title, or any FO attribute. Click on any component of the title to change the component, or to add a new title component.
Remove Line Item Suffixes
Line item sets and hub groups by default add in line item suffixes to the title to disambiguate potentially different line items within the same FO. In many cases, a line item set (or hub group) consists of line items all of one type and the suffix is not necessary. To remove line item suffixes, click on the checkbox.
Group misfits
FOs that do not match any of the groups can be placed into a new group of misfits and labeled "None", or they can be left ungrouped at the same level.
Select Report Specifications and Frameworks
An organization style can be applied to any combination of report specifications and frameworks. First select which report specs or groups of reports you want to apply the organization style and then select which frameworks. The organization style will be applied when both the report spec and framework are used. If no report specs are selected or if no frameworks are selected then the organization style will not be used.
Select Line Item Sets, Hub Types, and Groups
Finally, select which line item sets, hubs and groups the organization style should be applied to.
Priority Order
If more than one organization style is applicable to an object, then only the highest priority organization style is applied. A specific object always has priority over groups of that object. For example, a report spec has higher priority than a group of reports; a framework has higher priority than a group of frameworks. Priority is determined, first by looking at the report spec selection. If the report spec selection is the same, then the framework selection is examined. If the framework selection is the same, then the line item set or hub type is examined.
Tip: To create a default global organization style select all report specifications and all frameworks. This global default can be applied to all line item sets and hub types. The global default organization can be overridden for any specific report specification or framework.
