Libraries
Libraries are a special class of a Published Model. Libraries contain only the FO Types and FO Instances needed to add new functionality to a model and do not create any values on the financial statement report specifications without input into the model using the library.
When a library is imported into a model it is read-only, protecting the underlying logic. However, once imported, as many instances of FOs can be created as necessary. Additionally, the imported FO Types can be copied or extended.
One of the key advantages of producing your own libraries is for sharing with other users. Your logic is protected, but you can generate updates at any time. Others using your library can choose to stay with the version they have or upgrade to your new version.
Difference between a Library and a Published Model
The only real difference is usage. Libraries contain stand-alone functionality, whereas a Published Model would contain not only the FO Types, but potentially a large number of instances as well.
Deleting a Library
In the model that is the source of the library, view the model in the model menu. In the checkpoint section, click on the desired checkpoint to delete. Under the Edit menu, select Delete Checkpoint. A library cannot be deleted if it is in use by another model.
