Data Imports

The Data Import utility is located in Model Content in the Organization Tree. Data can be imported from a variety of sources and data formats.

Data can be imported from:

  1. Another model
  2. Comma Separated Values (CSV) file
  3. SQL Database

Data can be imported for different purposes:

  1. FO Tables and FO Set Import - This style of import is designed to work with a specified Financial Object  Type. This type of import can include Constants, Line Items, FO Attributes, Connections to Hubs, and titles. FO Tables are less restricted than the older FO Set Import.

For example, if you want to import metadata for each employee into a specifically designed employee FO: Title, salary, wage increase, department, etc.

  1. Data Store Import: Transaction based data import as a basis for the calculation of line item values. (Please contact Synario for further details)

For example, you might want to import all of the transactions for expenses including each purchase for a specific account. The transaction data is used to calculate the expense for each period.

If the originating model In the context of data store exports and imports, the model that creates the data store export., from which the data store is imported, has re-exported the data store, the Out-of-date Data Store alert will appear on the Help tab. The Warning: Out-of-date: data store data has been updated since the last time the data has been imported into this model message will also appear on the Data Store Import's corresponding data store tab.

In order to update to the newest version, you can either click Edit on Help tab or go directly to the particular data store tab, click Clear Data from Model and Import Data into Model after the previous data store has been removed.
