Terms

The Terms utility allows you to modify the terminology used in the software with terms of your own. Terms also include period names (such as month names in a monthly model) and year names (such as 2018 or 2018-2019FY). This allows, for example, replacing the term "2018-2019FY" with something a bit shorter such as FY19.

Terms that can be changed within a model are identified by an @symbol followed by a term enclosed in square brackets[ ].

Example: The FO Type Basic Income has a Parameter called Revenue by default. If you look at that FO (Model Infrastructure/FO Types/Income), you will see that the title is shown as @[Revenue]. What this means is that if the term 'Revenue' is the default term. If it is changed to 'Sales' in Terms, any title that uses @[Revenue] will use the term Sales when displayed in a FO Instance An FO Instance inherits all parameters and any logic(formulas) contained in the FO. Any change in the FO is immediately updated in all instances..

Changing terms

In Model Settings/Terms, click Terms.
Right click and select "Add Terms". A new term set will be created.
Title the term set.
Begin typing in a term in the Term text box. As you do, the software will attempt to display all changeable terms that match what you type.
Select the term you want to change. It will be added to your list of terms, and will show the Translation as being equal to the original.
Type in the translation
Save your change.

Removing a term translation

If the translation is the same as the default, or is blank, when you save the change the term translation will be removed.

Using multiple term sets

You can create as many term sets as you like. You can change the term set used by the current model by going to Model Parameters under Model Settings and changing the Terms parameter to the term set you specify.
